Office Ethernet Networks

Most offices today that have multiple computers will network those computers and other peripheral devices, such as printers, file servers, backup drives, etc. In many cases, networking requires the stringing of yards of Ethernet cable through walls, ceilings, floors, and paneling so that each device can be connected to the network.

The other option is a wireless network with a transmitter that broadcasts an omnidirectional signal that can be detected by any computer in the vicinity of the network. In those cases, security can become a real issue if an unauthorized user obtains a necessary password to sign on to the network. In addition, the typical Wi-Fi signal operates at a frequency of 2.5 GHz or 5 GHz. Such a signal has a problem penetrating walls, so in facilities with a number of walls, a typical wireless configuration is impractical. Interference or noise in the Wi-Fi band is also common because of the competition for bandwidth from other electronic devices such as Bluetooth devices and microwaves.

On the other hand, Accurate Electronics' Ethernet Transceivers can be used to create a secure, wireless network with less work and at a lower cost. Instead of stringing yards of Ethernet cable, Ethernet transceivers replace the cable with a 128-bit encrypted signal between units. Accurate Electronics' Ethernet Transceiverss operate in the ISM band between 903 and 907 MHz, so the signal has the capability of penetrating multiple concrete walls over a greater distance without losing signal integrity.

For instance, one unit may be connected to the company server, and each computer or peripheral is connected to a separate unit. If multiple computers and peripherals are located in the same place, a  router or switch may be plugged into a unit instead. Once the units have been configured, the whole process is automatic. And the only Ethernet cable that is used are the short cables used to connect electronic equipment to the Ethernet radios.

Stringing Ethernet cable is also more cost effective when it only has to be routed through movable panels. So all of the computers and peripheral equipment in one room may be routed through a switch that is connected to an Ethernet Transceiver, and the Ethernet Transceivers are used to connect all of the switches to the company server. This solution is particularly viable when a company's operations are spread out over a number of buildings.

Depending on each business's requirements, Accurate Electronics' Ethernet Transceivers can be configured to meet the business's needs. Adjustments can be made to the antennas in the units to boost transmitting power, focus the signal in a specific direction, or to filter out unwanted interference.
